Description :

About this tour: We've teamed up with one of our favorite Paris wine shops, La Dernière Goutte, to offer a blow-out wine and cheese tasting that will introduce you to fundamental concepts like terroir and AOC, will help you to understand how production methods and raw materials affect the finished product, and will leave you with an understanding of regional differences... all while sampling a wide variety of artisanal wines and cheeses.

We'll meet at one of the oldest and most reputable cheese shops in Paris to talk about the trade of selling and ripening cheese. You'll learn about etiquette for buying (and rules for bringing cheese to your home country) as we select a wide range of styles to taste along with our wine.

After a short walk to the wine shop, we'll settle in for an extravagant tasting of at least eight wines and eight cheeses, with in-depth presentations from your wine guide at La Dernière Goutte and your cheese guide from Paris by Mouth.

Price for a small group tour: 105€ per person, including generous food and wine tastings and two knowledgable guides

A sampling of treats from the Wine & Cheese Extravaganza:

How much cheese? We usually taste between 8-10 varieties during this tour, along with artisanal bread and some special cheese accompaniments. The exact selection will vary depending on the season, the planned wines, and your preferences, but here are a few that we've recently enjoyed:

Examples clockwise from top left: Lochois (sheep), a spoonable Saint-Félicien (cow), Allobroge (like a Sainte-Nectaire but from a mix of cow and goat), Brossauthym (sheep).

Examples clockwise from top left: Maroilles, Langres, Fourme d'Ambert, Roquefort (Carles)

What sort of wine?

Selections will vary with each session, but we'll include both whites and reds and a range of different regions and varietals unless otherwise noted. You can specify during booking if you have any particular cravings or curiosities. La Dernière Goutte carries only high-quality, small-production wines personally selected by owner Juan Sanchez and his team of wine fanatics.
